More than eight years after the abduction and sexual assault of a popular actress, a crime which shook the Malayalam film industry and Kerala society, a trial court today has pronounced its verdict on the case. The first six accused were found guilty of the crime, while actor Dileep, the eighth accused and the alleged mastermind who spent close to three months in jail, was found not guilty. Bina Paul, film editor and founder of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), which was formed in the aftermath of the incident, speaks to The Hindu on the verdict.
